Baked Spaghetti Casserole
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Cook the spaghetti according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic and sauté until soft and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
Add the ground beef or Italian sausage to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-6 minutes.
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook for 5-7 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked spaghetti and meat sauce until well combined.
Pour half of the spaghetti mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
Sprinkle half of the grated mozzarella and half of the grated Parmesan over the spaghetti layer.
Repeat with the remaining spaghetti mixture and cheese to create another layer.
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges are golden brown.
Remove the casserole from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired, and serve hot.
Enjoy this comforting and hearty baked spaghetti casserole as a delicious meal for any occasion!
