Instructions:
Step 1: Freeze the Base
- Pour the Coca-Cola into an ice cube tray and freeze until solid, about 4-6 hours or overnight.
- Tip: If you’re short on time, use store-bought frozen cola cubes or partially freeze the liquid before blending.
Step 2: Blend the Slushie
- In a blender, combine the frozen Coca-Cola cubes, cherry juice (or grenadine), white rum (if using), and fresh ice cubes.
- Blend on high speed until smooth and slushy. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash of cola or cherry juice to loosen it. If it’s too thin, add a few more ice cubes and blend again.
Step 3: Serve and Garnish
- Pour the slushie into chilled glasses.
- Garnish each glass with a maraschino cherry and a lime wedge for a pop of color and extra flavor.
- Serve immediately with straws and enjoy responsibly!
Tips for Success:
-
- Make it kid-friendly: Skip the rum and use extra cherry juice or grenadine for a sweet, alcohol-free version.
- Experiment with flavors: Swap cherry juice for other fruit juices like pineapple, orange, or cranberry for a fun twist.
- Batch prep: Double or triple the recipe and blend in batches for larger gatherings.
- Keep it icy: Chill your glasses in the freezer for 10-15 minutes before serving to keep the slushie cold longer.
