Of course, I had to experiment with the eggs. I did this for 15, 16, 17, and 18 minutes to see what they looked like inside and how they peeled.
15 minutes—harder to peel. The center is softer, right between hard-boiled and soft-boiled.
16 minutes—perfectly peeled. The center is fairly cooked.
17 minutes – perfectly peeled. The center is perfect for egg salad, potato salad, deviled eggs, etc.
18 minutes – harder to peel. The white is rock hard. I bet the egg would bounce, but I haven’t tried. (I wish I had.) The center is dry but not gray.
Now you need to experiment with your own air fryer to see what time works best for you. Cook ONE egg and see. If you’re going to be doing this regularly, take this recipe and adjust it to suit your altitude (high altitude affects all cooking times), air fryer model, and personal preference.
Mine is officially 17 minutes for a perfect hard-boiled egg. Yours may be different! Test it out and see!
The best thing about these eggs is how easy they are to peel! Only the 15 minute egg gave me a hard time. Now to master the perfect soft-boiled egg in the air fryer!
Happy cooking!
